Richard Millns

Richard brings 27 years of extensive coaching experience to the Campbell River Killer Whales as he enters his 7th season as Head Coach. Richard is NCCP level 3 certified and is beginning his process towards completing the Advanced Coaching Diploma. Along with Swim Coaching credentials, Richard holds a Health and Fitness Diploma and is a certified Personal Fitness Trainer. A dedicated coach and community leader, Richard focuses on long term athlete development as well as the growth of personal, social, and citizenship skills in his swimmers, always emphasizing the importance of being well-rounded as a person. He himself is a proud father of 5 children and husband to the world's best wife.

Katie Millns

Assistant Head Coach 

An alumni CRKW swimmer, Katie was the Head Coach of the Columbia Valley Swim Club, and has now come back to Campbell River. She has a passion for swimming and has a wonderful way of inspiring swimmers to love all things swimming. She builds strong, healthy relationships with the swimmers and has a magical way of getting them to have fun working hard. We're excited to see what inspiring stories and swimming facts Katie brings to the pool this year.

Lauren Wilson

Killer Whales Development Coach/Orcas Mentor

Lauren joins us from the University of Calgary Swim Club and has now made Campbell River home for her wonderful family. She has the huge role of overseeing our Orca Program, which includes Orca Development, Orca Junior, and Orca Senior as well as their respective coaches. In addition, she'll be leading the Killer Whale Development group this year. She brings a wealth of enthusiasm and love of swimming to the pool with her everyday. We're so excited to have another year with Coach Lauren.

Cheri Millns

Head Development Coach devcoach@crkw.ca

Cheri is entering her 7th season coaching with the Campbell River Killer Whales. She brings an extensive background in both competitive swimming and business administration, having been involved with swimming since she was 5 years old, and with coaching since 2003. She is also a certified instructor in 2 other fields: yoga and Taekwondo. As CEO of Sung Lee Taekwondo in Edmonton, she managed programing for 700 athletes and 10 staff over 5 locations in the city. To top that off, she is the proud mother of 5 children.

Jared Wilson

Killer Whales Assistant Coach

Coming from the University of Calgary Swim Club, Jared will be working with the Killer Whale program this year in a variety of assisting roles.

Shannon Haugen

Orca Developmental Coach

Shannon is starting her 4th year as our Killer Whales Orca coach. Shannon is highly experienced in coaching swimming. She is redoing her NCCP Level 1 Certification in competitive (speed) swimming, but has worked fulltime as a professional Artistic Swimming coach and still holds NCCP level 3 certification in this sport. Shannon is a long-time teacher and currently works as the Special Needs Program Director at the Campbell River Christian School.

Meghan Sibley

Mini Whales Coach

Meghan is entering her 5th Season with the Campbell River Killer Whales and 2nd decade in aquatics. She is an aquatic icon in our town - a lifeguard, instructor, and professional swim coach – who performs her duties with professional poise. We are fortunate to have Megan on board.
