Criteria for Group
Swimmers in the Killer Whales Junior Group are welcomed based on a pedigree of both merits and personal readiness. Swimmers should have at least 2 years of experience in the sport, they should be at least a minimum of 12 years old and be able to train at a 1 meter per second interval for up to 2500 meters. Swimmers in this group are expected to be able to enjoy swimming up to 9 hours a week with up to 2 hours a week of dry land. The program will be flexible and accommodate swimmers who play other sports, as it is highly recommended that swimmers in this squad participate in several activities. At the end of the day, however swimming is the core of what these athletes participate in, and a strong commitment is expected to the program.
Goals for Killer Whales Junior Group
The goal is to become a competent swimmer to a high level. This is defined by the well-roundedness of the swimmer. A swimmer who is graduated from the Killer Whale Junior Program is able to swim 200 of each stroke with competent technique and skills and be able to swim a 400 IM between 5:00-5:30 for a 400 IM.
